A New Beginning

Your past…..it doesn’t define, it prepares!

The slogan captured my attention as we rode past the billboard. I missed the advertisement, yet the saying stayed with me. The past doesn’t define me, it prepares me for what lies ahead.

My believer’s heart pondered the words. No matter what I’ve done or thought, or what’s happened in my life, I don’t have to allow my past to define me. It’s a new day, a new year, a new start with a gracious God whose compassion never ends. Thank you, God, for this most precious gift.

God offers new mercies each morning—there is hope. Receive His grace and begin anew. Today’s a good time to start. Happy New Year!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

Oh, remember the bitterness and suffering you have dealt to me! For I can never forget these awful years; always my soul will live in utter shame.

Yet there is one ray of hope: his compassion never ends. It is only the Lord’s mercies that have kept us from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; his loving-kindness begins afresh each day. My soul claims the Lord as my inheritance; therefore I will hope in him. Lamentations 3:19-24 (TLB)

Now thanks be to God for His indescribable gift [which is precious beyond words]!
