Fear Not

This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 (NKJV)

Day dawns, but worry plagues my mind. I wake up with thoughts of family issues, diseases, tragedy, natural disasters from storms and fires, wars, riots, persecuted people, prodigal children, and on and on. The heaviness of distress causes me to drop to my knees.

Forgive me, Lord, for focusing on fear. Your Word repeatedly instructs me not to fear. I need to heed your command. Take captive my faithless pondering. Fill my mind with peace as I set my eyes on you, in Jesus’ name. Now let me start again.

It’s a new day. Thank you, God, for life. Sitting in stillness with a cup of coffee, I concentrate on your Word and rest in Your faithfulness. Silence speaks serenity. As I fuel up with your morning manna, I hear birds chirping and realize your provision in all things. Why should I be afraid?

This is the day you made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. Circumstances will not draw my attention away from you. I will trust in you no matter the situation. Your plans are for good—let me seek your ways. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your love and loyalty.

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)

So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:3 (NKJV)

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:26 (NKJV)

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Philippians 4:4 (NKJV)

“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; Deuteronomy 7:9 (NKJV)

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1 (NIV)
