Dressed in white, he gallops up on a white horse. He only has eyes for her. While he dismounts from his horse and walks up to her front door, Belle (french for “beauty”- see yourself as Belle) eagerly peers out her window with anticipation. She’s been waiting on him for a long time, dreaming of her prince. She felt a strong connection to him when they first met, and she trusted him to return. The prince embodies everything she has ever dreamed of in a companion.
We girls have always dreamed of Prince Charming who would sweep us off our feet or a knight in shining armor who would rescue us. The fantastic fairy tales that we read as little girls are full of princesses who were liberated from their captivity: Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel....they found their Prince Charmings. You may or may not have found a wonderful counterpart in life, but no one fits the description of perfection like Christ. Hear (in your heart and soul) the words of Zechariah 9:9 NKJV:
Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion!
Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you,
righteous and having salvation,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Now don’t be confused by your Rescuer just because He arrives on a donkey instead of a horse. He is humble, respectful, unassuming, and doesn’t force Himself on you. He allows you to make a choice. He is the Perfect Prince; in actuality... a King.
God created us “in His image” and until we’ve encountered His perfect presence, we’re left with emptiness and longing. Our hearts long for heaven, therefore, we seek liberation from our bondage here on earth. That’s why we are drawn to stories of deliverance; our desire for a Deliverer is buried deep within our souls. Once we’ve come face to face with our Creator, our Savior, our King, He presents Himself in all His glory, ready for redemption. (I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. Rev.19:11 NIV)
We just need to take hold of His garment (I’m reminded of the woman with the issue of blood - Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. Luke 8:43-45 NKJV) and hold on for our deliverance. Amidst all of the crowd and commotion surrounding our circumstances, He turns toward you. He is God and He is capable of making you feel as if you are the only one in the room.
(Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings....Psalm 17:8 NKJV)
He calls you and your child by name. (Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. Isaiah 431:1 NKJV)
BELIEVE in Him.... He is faithful and true.. it’s not a fairy tale. Say with Mary:
“My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” Luke 1:46-47 NKJV
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” Luke 1:46-47 NKJV
If you have ever flown in a plane, you know that the flight attendants display where the gas masks are in case of an emergency. They tell you to put the mask on yourself first before applying it to your child’s mouth. Initially that doesn’t make sense. As a mother you might say, “Wouldn’t I want to first try and save my child before taking care of myself?” But think about it - if you’re passed out or are struggling to breath, how are you going to be of any help to your child? Dealing with a rebellious child, a prodigal, or one that simply must “do things my way” can be exhausting, crippling you to the point of immobilization. Refuse Satan’s desire to paralyze you. Take care of yourself first by drawing near to your Rescuer, Jesus Christ. He will shine a light in your darkness and scale any wall to get to you. Read about your delivery in Psalm 18:28-30 NKJV:
For You will light my lamp;
The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
For by You I can run against a troop,
By my God I can leap over a wall.
As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the LORD is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
Once He’s rescued you (physically, spiritually, emotionally), believe that He will rescue those you love. Because you have been released from bondage, you can pick up your sword and become part of His troupe that makes war against Satan (who makes war against your children). Fight with King Jesus because He surely fights by your side. (The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” Exodus 14:14 NKJV)
Our troupe of MPs spreads far and wide with distance separating us, but God’s Spirit unites us as we fight in prayer for our loved ones. Here’s some reassurance from The Message that speaks to our unity: "There's a lot of work going on and we are spread out all along the wall, separated from each other. When you hear the trumpet call, join us there; our God will fight for us." Nehemiah 4:20 The trumpet has sounded and now is the time to lift up the Sword of the Spirit and pray.
