The Victory in Ash Wednesday

It’s Ash Wednesday, a Christian holy day. This day begins Lent, a six week season for the preparation of Easter. It is a time of self reflection and repentance. And even though to some it may represent sadness and gloom, God says VICTORY!

“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.  1 Corinthians 15:55-58

The power of darkness has been dispelled and Christ Jesus is the VICTOR. When fear and worry seems to crouch in upon you, remember the name of Jesus. Praise the One, Jesus Christ, who breaks our chains of sin and darkness and sets us free. No matter what trouble you face today, cry out to JESUS and believe He will deliver you. Let go and let God.

The darkness of this world will never overcome the Light of the world, which is Jesus Christ. When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  John 8:12 (NIV)

God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.  Acts 19:11-12 (NIV)

When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor. Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.  Acts 19:17-20 (NIV)

Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ today and always.

“Nothing that is attempted in opposition to God can ever be successful.”  ~John Calvin
